We arrived in chilly, rainy Toronto late afternoon on Tuesday. We were scheduled in earlier that day at 9:30 a.m., but delays had cost us almost 8 hours. I woke up Tuesday morning with a nasty cold and scratchy throat, which put a damper on the end of the train trip. We had booked a wonderful room for two nights at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel, which is right across the street from our arrival point, Toronto's Union Station. The following day, Wednesday, was to be an exploration of Toronto, but as it turned out, we stuck mostly to a six-block area around the hotel, which took us down to the harbor as well as over several blocks to the CN Tower. The CN Tower had a waiting line a mile long (slight exaggeration), but just across the street was the old railroad roundhouse mentioned on the Vancouver page. Alas, I did not have my camera on this particular outing, so you are mercifully spared pictures of the roundhouse as well as pictures of the engines and cars on the property. There was a small beer brewery next to the property, and Patty sampled one of their products. I don't like beer, and even if I did I wouldn't have been able to taste or enjoy it. We did take a boat tour of the harbor, which is basically a body of water separated from Lake Ontario by what used to be a peninsula but is now an island. My one picture on this page is the Toronto skyline taken from the boat.
Yes, yes, I know you were expecting more pictures from Toronto. So sue me.
