Canadian Day Three: Through the Forests and Past the Lakes

Our third full day on the train took us through a land of forests and lakes. Canada's Ontario Province is filled with lakes (over 250,000 lakes containing close to one-third of the world's fresh water supply), and we raced past a multitude of them on Day Three as we headed eastward towards Toronto. There were plenty of firs and pines, but we also saw lots of aspen and birch, and they were just starting to show their autumn colors. Canada on Day Three looked a lot different from Canada on either Day One or Day Two.

Trees of color

Some trees starting to show their colors. (And more flying saucers.)

I could have taken several dozen videos just like this one. Trees and lakes. Lakes and trees. Amazing.

Long train running.

This is how long our train was (20+ cars, not counting the engines). We were at the tail end.

Rusty trestle bridge

A rusty trestle bridge (looking backward from the dome). Looks too narrow to get through, but we did.

Aspen or birch.

Not certain if these are aspen or birch (or something else?).

Aspen or birch.

A closeup.
