My wife's grandfather -- Charles Marsh, affectionately known to his friends and customers as Cappie -- left a handwritten notebook of reminiscences of his days as a conductor for the Southern Railway in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee between the late 1880s and the mid 1930s. I'm going to use his remembrances as the basis for a book, although I haven't decided yet what approach to take. I plan on accessing the Southern Railway archives as part of this project, work to begin this coming winter (2017-18).
